Nigerian Rapper Ycee Goes Against APC and It’s Supporters Ahead of 2027 Elections

Nigerian rapper Ycee, born Oludemilade Martin Alejo and famous for tracks like “Juice” and “Condo,” has launched a scathing public attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The 33-year-old Lagos-based artist took to social media to vent his frustrations, highlighting a series of national challenges he attributes to poor governance.

In his outspoken post, Ycee detailed grievances ranging from escalating insecurity to systemic failures across key sectors. He pointed to recent violence in Kwara State, where reports indicate over 150 murders linked to banditry, kidnappings, and attacks on communities, including churches and vigilantes. He criticized the crumbling healthcare system, frequent national grid collapses causing widespread blackouts, deteriorating education standards, inflated government budgets, and what he described as extravagant lifestyles among the political elite amid widespread hardship.

Ycee did not spare the opposition, accusing them of complacency and failing to provide meaningful alternatives. He capped his tirade with strong language, cursing the APC and calling on Nigerians to channel maximum anger toward the 2027 general elections. He urged citizens to mobilize and reject the status quo, framing the upcoming polls as a critical opportunity for change.

The outburst comes against a backdrop of severe economic pressures in Nigeria. Inflation has hovered around 30%, exacerbating poverty levels that affect an estimated 133 million people, according to recent reports. Many Nigerians face rising costs of living, fuel scarcity, and limited access to basic services, fueling public discontent.

Supporters of Ycee praised his candidness, viewing it as a bold voice from the entertainment industry amplifying grassroots frustrations. Comments on social media platforms cheered the “unfiltered rage,” with some saying it reflects the pent-up anger of youth struggling under current conditions.

Critics, however, dismissed the rant as opportunistic or attention-seeking. Detractors mocked Ycee for not releasing new music recently and accused him of offering vague criticisms without concrete policy alternatives or evidence to back all claims.

Ycee’s intervention adds to a growing wave of celebrity commentary on governance in Nigeria, where artists and influencers increasingly use their platforms to address political and socioeconomic issues. As 2027 approaches, such outbursts may signal deepening divisions and heightened calls for accountability from the Tinubu-led government and the APC.
